Post lockdown hair trends

It’s nearly time! Barber shops and hairdressers across the country are preparing to welcome back customers into the chair from the 12th April. Lockdown has been tough on us all and most of us have had to live with hair that is starting to grow out of control or take matters into their own hands with the clippers. There's nothing like the feel of a fresh cut, it's likely your locks have grown slightly longer than you would have allowed previously, and it’s now time to decide what to go for when you next sit in the chair. Let's take a look at the post-lockdown hairstyle trend predictions that barbers are expecting to see:

Long on top with a short taper

If you are in the camp of men who didn’t touch their hair with the clippers over lockdown, you probably have enough hair up top to pull this one off. You may find that you actually like it a bit longer on top and just want a tidy up and neat taper around the edges. This is a perfect tidy up style for the man who wants to grow his hair but keep some structure while it grows.

The buzz cut and fade

If you sit in the other camp of men who decided they couldn’t get on with their hair growing out. You might have taken the clippers with it and gone for the short back and sides buzz cut look. As a result, you may now have hair considerably shorter than before and one way to cut it as it grows back to your preferred length is to go for the buzz cut fade. It's the perfect low maintenance hairstyle, if you are happy to keep things super short.

Grow it out

For many men the last 12 months have presented the perfect opportunity to experiment with growing longer hair. You may have decided if you’ve managed to push past that awkward stage that you want to grow it long. Long hair is expected to be a big trend this year, think 90s grunge style. Maintaining long hair is harder than it first appears. You’ll need to make sure through the growth you get a few maintenance cuts to keep it looking fresh.

Classic short hair

There will of course be those men who prefer a more preppy look and go for a clean and classic short hairstyle that is classically smart and perfect for the office or when you just want to smarten things up after feeling a bit scruffy over lockdown.

The beard is still here

If you’ve taken the opportunity to grow yourself a lockdown beard, and you like it, you might want to get it sharpened up with some crisp lines and a trim to give it some shape. Beards took off last year after lockdown 1.0 and are here to stay for now.

Whatever style you decide to go with, here at Grade92 we can’t wait to welcome you back into the chair to update your hair ready for spring. See you on the 12th!
